Dad. Urban Planner.
Proven Progressive.

Building a 1st Ward where families can afford to stay, where every street is safe to walk and bike, and where City Hall works for everyone, not just the well-connected.

Government Should Provide For Its People

Daniel ran for alderman in 2019 because he believed Chicago could govern differently and put power back with our neighbors instead of special interests.

Together, we’ve built more housing instead of fighting over limited options. We’ve invested in violence prevention and youth jobs alongside policing. We’ve designed streets where families, cyclists, transit riders, and drivers can all get home safe.

Since his reelection in 2023, he’s focused on passing citywide reforms that make it easier to build housing, strengthening neighborhood connectivity, and giving 1st Ward residents a greater voice in shaping the future.

Now after eight years, the 1st Ward is leading the charge for changing how we do politics in the city.

And that’s because together, we imagined something better.

Meet Daniel

Daniel used to imagine what kind of city Chicago could be. Now he imagines what kind of city his daughters will inherit.

Will they be able to afford to stay in Logan Square? Will they be able to bike safely to school? Will extreme weather events every year become the norm? Will they grow up in a part of the city where you know your neighbors?

Daniel moved to Chicago almost 30 years ago to explore who he could be and what a life of significance and service could look like. He stayed in Chicago because of communities built around faith, justice, and organizing that helped him put down deep roots.

He has been humbled by the opportunity to serve the 1st Ward these past seven years as alderperson. He loves that every day is different from the one before and that he has a vocation built around solving practical problems while inspiring folks’ civic imagination. It is a rare job that allows you to see the tangible impact of your work on a daily basis; He never takes that privilege for granted.
